When people ask me what books or things to read to get in to SFX I'd say invest some time and money in good anatomical books and reference material. Also, go back and try old makeups to see how you'd approach them differently 12 months later with that knowledge. 12. Opération de la colonne 

 

 

Not hugely thrilled with result of this makeup but I did learn some things. 1. This view of the spine would mean the muscle has been removed which would mean this cut needs to appear much deeper. 2. The shape of the incision isn't great nor were the skin wrinkles I sculpted under those surgical separators 3. The vertebrae lack a rounded form. 4. My colour matching/blending sucks on freckly skin. 5. Sometimes finessing a paint job isn't worth the pain once you cover the area in blood... but failing (annoying as it is) is a great way to learn.

15. Perte du doigt

 

 

Still from yesterday's video test using @themakeupfoundation Ripper FX range. I bought a few products a couple weeks back and decided to try them out. They were also nice enough to send me a few samples too. Created using their coloured scar wax in blood and bone, simulated skin and runny dark thick blood. #specialeffects #specialeffectsmakeup #sfx #sfxmakeup #fxmakeup #fx #makeup #makeupartist
